Slicing Through Spacetime: Cosmic wisdom that hides in ground-level things

Everyday Altars

Altar (n.) : a usually raised structure or place on which sacrifices are offered or incense is burned in worship —often used figuratively to describe a thing given great or undue precedence or value especially at the cost of something else <sacrificed his family life on the altar of career advancement>

2: a table on which the eucharistic elements are consecrated or which serves as a center of worship or ritual

Pictured above is how I keep my jewelry, watches, nailpolish, any adornments or trinkets that can be worn on clothes, appendages, or limbs. At first I placed things to reduce the odds of chains getting tangled. Then I started to categorize by visibility, eventually by body part, and lastly by meaningful things that make me feel shiny or special.

Every little bit counts.

My face was painted last weekend and it saddened me to wash it all off. People nearby will soon be dressed up in costumes and use these coverings to break free of who they usually are and pretend to be other things. What a cool luxury to have.

I wish people bottled the shamelessness they had on Halloween and sipped it for the rest of their lives, holding up high whatever they needed to have fun, feel sexy, or lifted. Life would be more interesting with a pretend zombie chillin' on the subway, or being able to make out with the hottest Einstein or sugar-skull-lookin' babe. I hope everyone puts their costumed selves on tinder and uses it all year round. I would respect that. (Though, I think people already do that in a subtle way anyway. I was on Tinder for a period of 36 hours. It freaked me out)

Last night during class I said something like "Get shameless with it people! Breathe! Y'all will be dressed up like sexy bananas and shit like that tomorrow so breathe in here now!"*

Physicality makes this life fun and I'm working on it. Have fun everybody.

*I'm going through a breakup right now and timing was such that I couldn't go big with dressing up this year. If I did dress up, I'd be Cookie Lyon from Empire, tapping her cain and clapping my hands, telling people to PUT IN THE WORK. It's likely I'll be on my couch, watching MMXXL and either hiding from trick-or-treaters or passing out candy. I don't want to pass out my bitterness though. For halloween I'll be a human watching TV on the couch feeling my feelings.
